We are seeking a dynamic and flexible Behaviour Support Mentor to join our dedicated team at a rapidly-growing special needs school in Tiverton. This role is ideal for individuals who are passionate about supporting young people with social, emotional and mental health challenges.
Key Responsibilities- Provide general classroom support as well as 1:1 and small group interventions when necessary
- Assist the teacher with lesson preparation, supervision, resource gathering and activity set up
- Ensure the safeguarding and wellbeing of all students, fostering a safe and supportive environment
- Effectively manage behaviour in line with students' EHCPs and meet their individual needs
- Facilitate students' access to the curriculum and help them engage in their learning
- 11-16 special school with over 100 students
- Focus on supporting students with predominant needs associated with autism and ADHD
- Close-knit team who work relentlessly to support each other as well as the students
- Based across 2 sites
- Purpose-built nurture facility
- Earlier school day to suit the needs of the students
- Small class sizes (maximum of 10 students)
- High staff to student ratio
- Passionate about supporting young people, particularly those with autism and ADHD
- You are proactive, resilient and eager to actively contribute to the school community
- You have a good sense of humour and enjoy working collaboratively within a team
- You can build strong, positive relationships with students, staff and parents/carers
- Prior experience working with individuals with autism and ADHD is desirable
- Must be able to drive and have access to your own vehicle
This is an exciting opportunity to join a supportive and dynamic team, working with students who require additional support. If you are an experienced teaching assistant or have a background in supporting individuals with additional needs, this could be the ideal role for you.
You will be required to work 8am - 3pm, Monday to Friday during term-time only. You will be well supported and will receive regular opportunities for professional development. If you prove to be an invaluable asset to the team, there will be the opportunity to make this position permanent.
