Job Summary:

We are seeking an exceptional Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) to join our team at GSL Education in Colchester. As a key member of our educational community, you will play a vital role in supporting the classroom teacher in delivering high-quality lessons and providing individualized support to students who require extra help.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support the classroom teacher in planning, preparing, and delivering engaging lessons.
  • Lead small group sessions and provide one-on-one support to students who need extra help, promoting academic achievement and personal growth.
  • Develop and implement strategies to improve student engagement, motivation, and behavior, creating a positive and inclusive learning environment.
  • Assist in planning and preparing learning materials, ensuring that all students have access to relevant and challenging resources.
  • Cover lessons in the absence of the teacher, ensuring continuity of education and minimizing disruption to students.

Requirements:

  • A recognized HLTA qualification or equivalent experience.
  • Strong literacy and numeracy skills, including Maths and English GCSE graded 4 (or equivalent).
  • Experience working with children in an educational setting, with a proven track record of supporting student learning and development.
  • The ability to motivate and encourage students, promoting a growth mindset and a love of learning.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills, with the ability to work effectively with teachers, students, and other staff members.
  • An understanding of strategies to support student behavior and engagement, creating a safe and respectful learning environment.
