Job Description

Role Overview

We are seeking an exceptional Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) to join our team in Colchester. As a key member of our school community, you will play a vital role in supporting the classroom teacher in delivering high-quality lessons and contributing to the development of our students.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the classroom teacher in delivering high-quality lessons and developing engaging learning materials.
  • Lead small group sessions and provide one-on-one support to students who require additional help.
  • Develop and implement strategies to improve student engagement and behaviour.
  • Assist in planning and preparing learning materials, including lesson plans and educational resources.
  • Cover lessons in the absence of the teacher, ensuring continuity of education.

Requirements

  • A recognised HLTA qualification or equivalent experience.
  • Strong literacy and numeracy skills, including Maths and English GCSE graded 4 (or equivalent).
  • Experience working with children in an educational setting.
  • The ability to motivate and encourage students.
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills.
  • An understanding of strategies to support student behaviour and engagement.
