About the Role

We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented individual to join our team as an MDT Support Officer - Patient Navigator. This role will provide administrative support to the MDT Team, covering MDT meetings, tracking patients through their pathways, and ensuring that robust data collection is in place.

Key Responsibilities
  • Patient Navigating
    • To navigate patients through their care pathway (Routine, 62 & 31 Day cancer pathways), from point of referral to treatment, in accordance with the pathway steps and timescales agreed regionally/nationally.
    • To proactively pre-book appointments in accordance with agreed pathways, ensuring that wherever possible that patients reach each step in accordance with national pathway timescales.
    • To escalate diagnostic appointments for target patients, if booked outside the appropriate timescale.
    • To proactively identify and resolve delays at all stages in the patient pathway, where possible, and follow the escalation procedure and network policy for inter-trust transfers.
  • Data Collection and Analysis
    • To support the accurate and timely collection of cancer waiting time (CWT) data in accordance with National Cancer Waiting Times Monitoring Dataset guidance.
    • To report at weekly PTL meetings.
  • Administrative Support
    • To provide cover as and when required to support MDT meetings.
    • To co-ordinate and provide administrative cover support to the cancer S/LMDT(s) during periods of annual leave and sickness.
Requirements
  • Qualifications
    • Good standard of general education.
    • General administration.
    • GCSE Math & English (or equivalent).
  • Experience
    • NVQ 3 plus experience or equivalent.
    • Ability to prioritize own workload.
    • Good time management.
    • Experience of data collection and analysis.
    • Good computer skills, including use of all Microsoft Office Packages.
  • Knowledge
    • Excellent communication skills (written and oral).
    • Able to work on own initiative and as a member of the team.
    • Ability to work effectively under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
    • Strong organizational skills.
    • Analytical skills.
    • Working knowledge of Databases.
    • Knowledge of service improvement.
    • Evidence of good attendance and timekeeping.
