The Opportunity

We are in search of a seasoned and commercially astute Finance Director to collaborate with the Head and support the Board of Governors in navigating the complexities and opportunities that lie ahead for The Stowe Group. As a vital member of the Executive Leadership Team, this role will be instrumental in crafting and executing the Group's strategic and operational initiatives, overseeing all financial dimensions of the Group's strategy, processes, and activities, while ensuring effective communication with the Governor Committees.

This is an exciting juncture for The Stowe Group, as we prepare for the transition following the retirement of the current Group Finance Director. The successful candidate will report directly to the Head and will have direct access to the Chair of Governors and the Chair of the Finance Committee, playing a pivotal role in shaping and advancing the Group's ambitious development agenda.

The Finance Director will manage the financial operations across various entities, including Stowe School Ltd, Stowe Enterprises Ltd, Stowe School Developments Ltd, Stowe School Foundation, Stowe House Preservation Trust, and Stowe House Enterprises Ltd.

The ideal candidate will possess a strong commercial mindset and entrepreneurial spirit, ensuring that the Group's financial resources, investments, and systems are aligned with its educational and charitable objectives. A qualified accountant with a proven track record in strategic business planning, the successful candidate will also demonstrate exceptional communication skills and experience in leading a high-performing finance team. They will possess the intellectual capacity, gravitas, and sensitivity necessary to earn the respect of colleagues, students, parents, governors, and external stakeholders.
