Finance Assistant

We are looking for a Finance Assistant who will support our client's finance department by managing daily accounting and administrative tasks.

The ideal candidate will have some previous bookkeeping or finance related experience and be able to work comfortably with numbers and attention to detail. It would also be an ideal role for someone who is currently studying AAT (Association of Account Technicians) or who has a keen interest in pursuing AAT qualifications

The salary is between £26k and £32k depending on experience plus excellent benefits including bonuses, professional development opportunities and support for continued learning, your birthday as annual leave and much more.

Duties include

  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records, including ledgers, journals, and balance sheets
  • Process all invoices into the purchase ledger and ensure appropriate authorisation
  • Prepare and execute weekly payment runs
  • Reconcile all company bank accounts and resolve discrepancies
  • Manage external vendor interactions
  • Reconcile financial differences
  • Set up bank payments such as monthly salaries, HMRC (PAYE), and insurers
  • Support the preparation of annual accounts
  • Assist in the preparation of financial reports for management review

Skills/Experience

  • Proven experience in a similar role
  • Ideally studying for or wanting to pursue AAT
  • Effective communicator
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Organised
  • Analytical
  • Proficient in Excel
