Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Clinical Pharmacist to join our rotational programme at King's College Hospital NHS Foundation Trust. As a key member of our pharmacy team, you will have the opportunity to develop your clinical skills across a range of specialties and contribute to the delivery of high-quality pharmaceutical care to patients.

About the Role

This is a Band 7 rotational position that offers a unique opportunity to work in a fast-paced and dynamic environment. You will be responsible for providing clinical pharmacy services to patients across various specialties, including acute and emergency medicine, general medicine, specialist medicine, and more. You will also have the opportunity to participate in research and audit projects, and contribute to the development of clinical guidelines and policies.

Key Responsibilities
  • Act as a specialist practitioner in the clinical area and promote and deliver pharmaceutical care to patients.
  • Provide highly specialised evidence-based clinical advice and information to nursing and medical staff on the care and treatment of patients.
  • Participate regularly in multidisciplinary ward rounds, antibiotic ward rounds, and other multidisciplinary meetings to deliver and promote high-quality, cost-effective, patient-focused pharmaceutical care.
  • Contribute to and participate in the clinical/ward pharmacy service, including the provision of medication to patients and the management of medication supplies.
  • Participate in discharge planning, patient education, and counselling schemes for all patients/carers.
  • Support the Principal Pharmacist in monitoring drug expenditure within the Care Group and provide accurate expenditure information to the Clinical Director and General Manager.
  • Identify areas of potential cost-savings within the Care Group and implement systems to realise savings and contain prescribing costs.
  • Lead, coach, and manage the performance of junior staff in line with good people management practices, ensuring excellence is recognised and underperformance is addressed.
  • Participate in research and audit projects, and contribute to the development of clinical guidelines and policies.

  • Registered Pharmacist (1 year competency assessed and examined professional registration with the General Pharmaceutical Council)

  • Postgraduate Diploma in Pharmacy Practice or equivalent qualification/experience
