Our rotational program spans a diverse array of specialties, designed to furnish you with extensive clinical exposure and the opportunity to deliver high-quality pharmaceutical care across various Trust sites. This initiative equips you with the essential skills, knowledge, and insights into the different pharmacy services available in both district general and teaching hospital environments.
This established program is tailored to foster both your clinical and personal growth as a senior pharmacist within a fast-paced, dynamic, and inclusive setting. The rotation framework is built around structured objectives, ensuring you gain valuable experience and skills while being an integral member of the multidisciplinary team (MDT), contributing to departmental and Trust-wide goals.
The ideal candidate will demonstrate a collaborative spirit, possess substantial clinical experience as a registered hospital pharmacist, exhibit excellent interpersonal abilities, and show a strong commitment to continuous learning and meticulous attention to detail.
Key Responsibilities
We are seeking a diligent and highly motivated clinical pharmacist to join our Band 7 rotational program.
The initial rotation will be based at our designated site, with opportunities for rotations across all locations thereafter. Specific rotations include:
- Acute and Emergency Medicine
- General Medicine
- Specialist Medicine
- Frailty Medicine
- Gastroenterology and Clinical Nutrition
- Stroke
- Surgery
- Women's and Children's Health
- Patient Services and Clinical Services
Additional cross-site rotations encompass anticoagulation, cardiology, medicines finance, hepatology, neurosciences, sexual health, cancer & aseptics, projects, gastroenterology, and surgery.
This position is well-suited for individuals eager to enhance their clinical expertise across a variety of specialties, alongside developing their leadership and managerial capabilities.
Key Activities
The post holder will be responsible for:
- Acting as a specialist practitioner and role model, managing the daily pharmaceutical care of patients within the specialty
- Participating in daily consultant ward rounds during specific rotations
- Addressing clinical inquiries from both internal and external sources
- Generating monthly financial and activity reports, including monitoring cost-saving initiatives
- Conducting research and audit projects
- Engaging in activities such as risk management, clinical guideline development, and staff training
