Job Overview
This is an exciting opportunity for a motivated team lead/aspiring team lead to join our dynamic Trauma and Orthopaedic team based at the Princess Royal University Hospital. You will work closely alongside the clinical lead occupational therapist for general surgery. The service is dynamic and offers a challenging clinical environment for a confident and skilled occupational therapist.
The trauma and orthopaedics occupational therapy team provide assessment, rehabilitation and discharge planning for patients admitted to trauma, orthopaedics, fracture, and sometimes general surgery specialisms.
Multi-disciplinary working is essential within the team and we are looking for a creative occupational therapist to influence the further development of occupational therapy, paying particular attention to continuity of care, shared decision making, identification of barriers to discharge and facilitating patient flow.
We value continuing professional development to ensure all staff develop skills and knowledge to reach their full potential. You will be encouraged and supported to develop your clinical and teaching skills and contribute towards in-service development.
Main Duties of the Job
As the team lead OT, the post holder will oversee, coordinate and develop the orthopaedic occupational therapy service at the Princess Royal University Hospital.
They will provide specialist assessment, consultancy and intervention of patients' occupational needs within the inpatient setting as clinically indicated.
They will carry a caseload of patients with complex health and social care needs using evidence based practise and client centred principles to assess, plan, implement and evaluate interventions.
The post holder will provide clinical and professional leadership to a team of qualified members of staff and will be encouraged and supported to develop their clinical, teaching, and managerial skills.
They will maintain a high standard of autonomous working and supervision of others in complex assessment, treatment and discharge planning.
They will be forward-thinking and identify areas for service development and projects for their team to complete.
They will proactively participate and motivate others to lead CPD sessions through journal clubs, in-service skills training and peer support.
The post holder will attend relevant meetings as a representative of the team and will advise on service developments in line with government policy development.
There will be an expectation that there is flexibility to this role and there will be a requirement to work closely alongside the Surgical Team and the Surgical Team Lead Occupational Therapist.
