Job Title: Team Manager Children in Care

About the Role:

We are seeking an experienced and skilled Team Manager to lead our Children in Care team. As a key member of our Children's Social Care team, you will be responsible for managing a team of social workers and family support workers, providing high-quality supervision, and ensuring the delivery of excellent services to vulnerable children and their families.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage a team of social workers and family support workers, providing regular supervision and coaching to ensure high-quality practice.
  • Allocate cases within statutory timescales, ensuring assessments, statutory visits, and planned reviews are completed with clear objectives and outcomes.
  • Develop and review performance development plans for team members, enhancing their personal and professional development needs.
  • Monitor team performance data, ensuring compliance with practice standards and procedures.
  • Supervise Newly Qualified Social Workers in their Assessed and Supported Year in Employment, where appropriate.
  • Contribute to the management of the staffing budget for the team, approving and committing expenditure within delegated authority.
  • Support the safer recruitment and selection of new staff, both within the team and across Children's Social Care.
  • Chair strategy, review, planning, professional, and network meetings as required.
  • Stay up-to-date with Council policies, government guidance, legislation, research, and national trends to maintain the highest professional standards.

Requirements:

  • Advanced Social Worker level and The Knowledge and Skills Statement (KSS) for practice supervisors.
  • Competent in all areas of the PCF.
  • Excellent leadership and management skills, with experience of leading a team.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build effective relationships with colleagues, partners, and stakeholders.
  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team, with a flexible and adaptable approach.
