About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Custody Nurse to join our team at HCRG Care Group. As a Custody Nurse, you will play a critical role in providing high-quality healthcare services to individuals detained by the police or other agencies.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct comprehensive clinical assessments to determine the fitness of detainees for detention, interview, release, or transfer.
  • Provide healthcare interventions to manage minor illnesses or injuries, and refer detainees to appropriate medical facilities for more serious conditions.
  • Perform forensic examinations of detainees, including recording and documenting injuries, and collecting DNA evidence as required.
  • Collect specimens as necessary under legislation.
  • Prepare written statements as required.
  • Attend court or tribunal proceedings as necessary, following relevant training.
  • Maintain accurate and complete clinical records.
  • Assess and manage alcohol and drug intoxication and withdrawal.
  • Identify vulnerabilities and implement safeguarding pathways.
  • Support the clinical governance agenda of the organization.
  • Administer medications through patient group directions (PGDs) and patient treatment protocols (PTPs).
