About the Role

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Custody Nurse to join our team at HCRG Care Group. As a Custody Nurse, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality healthcare to individuals detained by the police or other agencies.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct comprehensive clinical assessments and provide care to individuals in custody, ensuring their fitness for detention, interview, release, or transfer.
  • Provide healthcare interventions to manage minor illnesses or injuries, taking appropriate actions and referring onwards for more serious conditions.
  • Undertake forensic examinations of individuals in police care, recording and documenting injuries and collecting DNA evidence as required.
  • Support the clinical governance agenda of the organization, ensuring the highest standards of care and patient safety.
  • Administer medications through PGDs and PTPs, following established protocols and guidelines.
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • 2 years' minimum experience in a healthcare setting, preferably in a custody or forensic environment.
  • Confidence and ability to make quick decisions in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with individuals from diverse backgrounds.
  • Strong clinical skills and knowledge, with the ability to assess and manage a range of health conditions.
  • Ability to work autonomously and manage your own workload, with minimal supervision.
