Job Description

BCT Resourcing is seeking a dedicated and experienced Environmental Officer to join their team. This role is crucial for managing and enhancing the company's environmental management systems, ensuring compliance with environmental regulations, and driving sustainability initiatives.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and Implement Environmental Policies: Create, implement, and maintain environmental policies and programs in line with ISO 14001 standards, ensuring alignment with the company's overall strategy.
  • Ensure Regulatory Compliance: Verify that all environmental regulations, both local and international, are met and exceeded, minimizing the risk of non-compliance.
  • Conduct Environmental Audits and Assessments: Regularly conduct thorough environmental audits and assessments to identify areas for improvement and implement corrective actions, ensuring the company's environmental performance is optimized.
  • Lead Sustainability Initiatives: Drive initiatives to reduce waste, emissions, and energy consumption throughout the manufacturing process, promoting a culture of sustainability within the organization.
  • Monitor and Report Environmental Performance: Track and report on environmental performance, providing detailed reports to senior management to inform strategic decisions.
  • Collaborate with Departments: Work closely with various departments to integrate environmental considerations into business decisions, ensuring a holistic approach to sustainability.
  • Provide Training and Support: Offer training and support to employees on environmental issues and best practices, enhancing their knowledge and skills.
  • Liaise with Regulatory Bodies: Communicate with regulatory bodies, certification agencies, and external stakeholders regarding environmental matters, ensuring the company's compliance and reputation are maintained.
  • Stay Updated on Environmental Trends: Continuously update knowledge on environmental trends, legislation, and best practices to ensure ongoing compliance and improvement.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Environmental Science or Related Field: Possess a degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, or a related field, demonstrating a strong foundation in environmental principles.
  • Minimum 3 Years of Environmental Experience: Have a minimum of 3 years of experience in an environmental position, preferably in the manufacturing sector, showcasing a proven track record of success.
  • ISO 14001 and Quality Management Systems: Possess in-depth knowledge of ISO 14001 standards and experience with ISO 9001 quality management systems, ensuring alignment with industry best practices.
  • Proven Sustainability Projects: Demonstrate a proven track record of successful environmental and sustainability projects, showcasing leadership and initiative.
  • Strong Analytical and Problem-Solving Skills: Possess excellent analytical, problem-solving, and project management skills, ensuring effective decision-making and implementation.
  • Strong Communication and Interpersonal Skills: Have strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively across departments, fostering a culture of teamwork and cooperation.
  • Certification in Environmental Management (Optional): Possess certification in environmental management, such as the NEBOSH Environmental Diploma, demonstrating a commitment to ongoing professional development.
