General Practitioner - HMP Hull + £1500 Welcome Bonus

Spectrum Community Health CIC is seeking a dedicated and motivated General Practitioner to become a vital part of our exceptional healthcare team at HMP Hull.

Our General Practitioners emphasize personal and professional qualities such as compassion, empathy, and fairness, along with a commitment to delivering high-quality and innovative healthcare. As a key member of our team, you will be managed and supported by a Regional Lead GP, gaining access to ongoing professional development to assist with appraisal and revalidation through our GP forum. In your leadership role, you will receive a comprehensive induction and various continuous professional support, coaching, and development opportunities, including Spectrum's own ILM accredited leadership and management program.

Please note that the welcome bonus is available to new candidates joining Spectrum Community Health CIC.

Additionally, there is a possibility to access a relocation package of up to £8,000.

Main Responsibilities

The successful candidate will deliver face-to-face clinical services, including the medical component of prison reception assessments, scheduled and emergency care services for inpatients and those in the segregation unit. Core responsibilities include:

  • Comprehensive clinical assessments of patients
  • Formulating differential diagnoses and management plans
  • Pharmacological assessments and prescribing
  • Requesting and interpreting clinical investigations
  • Appropriate referrals and follow-ups to specialist areas and secondary care services
  • Providing information and advice to facilitate informed choices regarding ongoing treatment and care
  • Medical assessments and monitoring of chronic diseases in accordance with NICE guidelines and local clinical policies
  • Delivering appropriate end-of-life care under the supervision of palliative care specialists when necessary

All General Practitioners are expected to maintain an up-to-date knowledge of the evidence base and clinical competencies required to develop effective care plans addressing the complex health needs of vulnerable populations, particularly in substance misuse and offender health within a secure environment. Psychiatric assessments, diagnoses, and management of prisoners with severe mental health issues will be handled by the specialist mental health provider.

  • UK recognized medical qualification
