About the Role

Cygnet Health Care is seeking an experienced and ambitious Senior Psychiatrist to join our team at Cygnet Hospital Churchill. As a key member of our multidisciplinary team, you will provide senior medical cover on our 17 bedded acute service for men.

Key Responsibilities
  • Work as part of a multidisciplinary team to provide comprehensive care to patients
  • Take overall responsibility for patient treatment plans in conjunction with the team
  • Assess referrals and undertake mental state examinations of service users
  • Undertake appropriate investigations, diagnosis, and treatment
  • Participate in ward rounds and clinical audits
  • Lead the implementation of risk assessment, risk management, and embed clinical governance
  • Supervise reports for Mental Health Act tribunals and managers hearings
  • Participate in the 1 in 3 Second telephone on-call rota

Requirements
  • Fully GMC Registered on the Specialist Register for General Adult Psychiatry and MBBS (or equivalent) qualified
  • Approved Clinician Status or able to achieve within 3 months of appointment
  • Approved under S12 or able to achieve within 3 months of appointment
  • Experienced and knowledgeable in General Adult Psychiatry
  • Knowledgeable of current issues in General Adult Psychiatry and the Mental Health Act and Code of Practice, along with the Mental Capacity Act 2005 and Code of Practice
  • A first-rate communicator who can interview, assess, and treat patients and write clear, comprehensive medical notes
  • Committed to continued professional development
  • Has actively participated in clinical audit and quality improvement programmes
  • Able to work as part of a multi-disciplinary team
  • A member of the Royal College of Psychiatrists (MRCPsych) or equivalent
