Job Purpose

Oversee the mechanical and electrical engineering teams within the APU, ensuring operational reliability and adherence to compliance standards. Collaborate with the APU Leader to achieve all facets of operational performance while actively managing the APU engineering budget. Utilize established PS&O processes to formulate effective gap plans and execute them within designated timelines and financial parameters. Continuously assess and manage engineering performance within the APU, from daily operations to long-term objectives.

Core Responsibilities
  • Inspire, develop, and engage engineering personnel within the team, equipping them with the necessary skills and knowledge to maximize productivity.
  • Provide direct engineering assistance to enhance safety, reliability, and production efficiency in alignment with site goals.
  • Oversee the progress of engineering initiatives, promoting holistic decision-making that considers the entire value stream, and provide necessary updates.
  • Supervise both team members and engineering contractors within the APU to ensure compliance with quality, environmental, and health and safety standards.
  • Lead the PS&O process, ensuring timely scope challenge activities in collaboration with the gap planner.
  • Accountable for executing the APU gap maintenance plan within budget and timeline, with support from the APU Leader and Process Leader, in conjunction with the Engineering Support Manager and MRP team.
  • Direct both reactive and proactive engineering efforts, ensuring compliance actions are fulfilled while implementing best practices such as AVI's, duty standby routines, and asset condition monitoring.
  • Exemplify the highest standards of personal health and safety, collaborating effectively with team members to complete tasks safely and efficiently.
  • Act as a deputy for the APU Leader during their absence.
Skills, Knowledge & Competencies
  • Vocational training certification in mechanical engineering.
  • NEBOSH safety Certificate is preferred but not mandatory.
  • Familiarity with British Standards for Engineering Plant, Equipment, and Practices.
  • Comprehensive understanding of industrial mechanical systems, with substantial mechanical experience in a complex manufacturing setting.
  • Demonstrated success in implementing maintenance improvement programs and reliability-centered maintenance principles.
  • Experience in leading, motivating, and engaging teams, both directly and indirectly (including contractor management).
  • Proven capability to navigate complex and conflicting demands in an industrial environment.
  • High level of credibility and the ability to communicate effectively across all levels of the organization.
