About the Role

We are seeking a skilled Mechanical Engineer to join our team at the Palm Group's King's Lynn site. As a Mechanical Engineer, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the smooth operation of our manufacturing processes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure Predictive Maintenance (PPM) schedules are completed as set by the Mechanical Supervisor.
  • Complete work orders issued by the supervisor in a safe and timely manner, updating work orders on the system and in person upon completion.
  • React to day-to-day issues within your area of responsibility, seeking assistance from above only when extra knowledge and experience are required.
  • Regularly communicate work progress to all levels.
  • Support the direct Supervisor and attend meetings as required.
  • Perform end-of-day checks in and around the mechanical workshop to ensure all cupboards are locked, bins are emptied, tools are stored away, and general housekeeping duties are completed.
  • In the event of faults or breakdowns during standard operating hours, react accordingly and conduct troubleshooting/fault finding in cooperation with your workforce to minimize downtime.
  • Coordinate and accomplish mechanical maintenance and repair work on all equipment, installations, and machinery at the Palm Paper premises in cooperation with the superior and the workforce.
  • Ensure timely handling of goods and parts, either booking them in or organizing them for a specific shutdown task.
  • Support the Mechanical Engineering Supervisor with planning and accomplishing related projects.
  • Maintain all required records, documents, and certification.
  • Perform overhauls of equipment in a modern mechanical workshop.
  • Conduct weld repairs to plant pipework.
  • Carry out pump changes, roll changes, and general heavy mechanical work within a team of trained and experienced mechanical engineers.
  • Be on call for breakdowns in accordance with company procedures and policies for the agreed-on call plan.

Requirements

  • A Mechanical Engineering apprenticeship or similar.
  • A minimum of five years' experience in a Mechanical Engineering position.
  • Ideal experience with fork trucks, MEWPS (mobile elevating work platforms), overhead cranes, confined spaces, welding, and machining.
