Autism Support Teaching Assistant

We are seeking dedicated teaching assistants for a Specialist School focused on Communication and Interaction, catering to students aged three to nineteen with Autism Spectrum Disorder. The institution serves 108 students ranging from ages 4 to 19.

Students at this school engage in a diverse and personalized curriculum, employing a broad spectrum of teaching theories and methodologies.

All students exhibit notable challenges within the 'Triad of Impairment' central to autism, including difficulties in language and communication, social interactions, and rigid behavioral patterns. Your role will be pivotal in helping students navigate and overcome these challenges.

Expectations from the Role:

  • A proactive attitude towards collaboration within a dedicated classroom team.
  • Under the guidance of the teacher, you will plan and execute learning activities for both individuals and groups.
  • Monitoring student progress and providing constructive feedback to the class teacher is essential, as is establishing supportive relationships with students, parents, and caregivers.
  • Adherence to the Code of Conduct is required.
  • Support the cognitive, social, emotional, and behavioral development of students.
  • Follow the EHC plan and tailor your approach to meet the unique needs of each student.

  • PAYE contract available.
  • Competitive hourly wage starting at £12.90+, depending on experience and additional responsibilities.
