About the IT Team

The Role: Data Lake DevOps Lead

We are seeking a passionate and experienced Data Lake DevOps Lead to join our growing team. You will play a crucial role in designing, implementing, and maintaining our Data Lake infrastructure on Google Cloud Platform (GCP) using DevOps and FinOps principles.

Responsibilities:
  • Design, develop, and manage the Data Lake infrastructure on GCP, ensuring scalability, security, and cost-efficiency.
  • Implement DevOps practices (CI/CD) to automate data pipelines and infrastructure provisioning, streamlining development and deployment.
  • Analyze cloud spending for the Data Lake, allocate storage and compute costs to relevant business areas, and identify cost-saving opportunities.
  • Enforce data security best practices by implementing user access control, encryption, pseudonymisation of Personal Identifiable Information, and auditing to ensure data governance.
  • Lead and mentor a small offshore team, fostering knowledge sharing within the Data Domain, Data & Analytics teams, and collaboration between data engineers, data scientists, and analysts.
Qualifications:
  • Demonstrate technical expertise and proficiency in Google Cloud Platform, DevOps principles, data engineering tools, and Cloud FinOps practices.
  • Possess a strong understanding of cloud pricing models and the ability to analyze cost data to identify areas for optimization.
  • Exhibit leadership and mentoring skills, effectively guiding a team comprising UK-based and offshore members, fostering a collaborative and knowledge-sharing environment.
  • Experience operating in a Scaled Agile and matrix management environment is highly desirable.
  • Excellent communication skills to bridge the gap between technical and business stakeholders.
