Lewisham and Greenwich NHS Trust is seeking a dedicated and experienced Safeguarding Specialist Public Health Nurse to join our innovative 'Families First for Children' (FFC) pathfinder programme. This program, funded by the Department for Education, aims to revolutionize safeguarding services for children, young people, and families across Lewisham.
As a key member of this pioneering initiative, you will collaborate closely with local authority partners, social workers, and other professionals to ensure the safety and well-being of vulnerable children. Your expertise in safeguarding practices will be instrumental in developing and implementing effective strategies that promote child protection and family support.
Your Responsibilities
- Provide expert guidance and support to families facing safeguarding concerns.
- Conduct thorough health needs assessments for children and families, identifying any unmet needs or risks.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to develop and implement individualized care plans.
- Maintain accurate and comprehensive records of all clinical and legal documentation related to safeguarding cases.
- Participate in team audits and quality improvement initiatives to enhance safeguarding practices.
Your Qualifications and Experience
- Registered Nurse (RN) or Registered Midwife (RM).
- Specialist Community Public Health Nurse (HV/SN) qualification.
- Extensive post-registration experience in a safeguarding role.
- Demonstrated knowledge of the Children Act 1989 and 2004, as well as relevant safeguarding policies and procedures.
