Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Extended School Coordinator to join our team at Manchester City Council.

Main Responsibilities
  • Lunchtime Management
    • Oversee all lunchtime staff, ensuring effective planning and organization of jobs, activities, and sessions.
    • Establish supportive relationships with the lunchtime and catering team.
    • Manage lunchtime timetables in collaboration with the SBM.
    • Liaise with class teachers, leaders, and SLT to ensure staff awareness of individual pupil needs.
    • Ensure pupils' welfare and food needs are met during lunchtime.
    • Engage pupils and support their development during lunchtime.
    • Take rapid action to provide support when difficulties arise.
    • Follow school procedures for child protection, safeguarding, health, and safety, as well as confidentiality.
    • Make concise, accurate, and purposeful actions and judgments as issues arise.
    • Develop an understanding of the specific needs of the children.
    • Meet with supply staff at the start of each lunchtime session to provide direction and expectations.
  • After School Club Management
    • Plan and prepare fun and nutritious snacks for children.
    • Purchase toys and equipment within agreed budget and maintain financial records.
    • Handle and resolve complaints from parents.
    • Produce written or verbal termly reports.
    • Ensure safe collection and transportation of children between classes and the club.
    • Manage and lead the after-school club staff.
    • Deliver creative play opportunities in a safe and caring environment.
    • Assist in the administration of the club, keeping relevant records, and implementing agreed club procedures.
    • Communicate and liaise with parents and school staff.
    • Implement an induction program for new staff.
    • Ensure areas are cleared at the end of sessions.
    Requirements
    • A suitable childcare qualification (NVQ level 3 or above in childcare, play work, or equivalent).
    • Experience in managing lunchtime and after-school clubs.
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
    • Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
    • Strong organizational and time management skills.
    • Ability to maintain confidentiality and adhere to school policies and procedures.
