Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Extended School Coordinator to join our team at Manchester City Council.

Main Responsibilities
  • Oversee Lunchtime Staff: Ensure that all lunchtime staff are effectively engaged with pupils and supporting their development during lunchtime.
  • Plan and Organise Lunchtime Sessions: Plan, prepare and deliver a suitable programme of imaginative and innovative activities suitable to the needs and interests of children.
  • Safeguard and Promote Welfare: Safeguard and promote the welfare of children and young people, and follow school policies and the staff code of conduct.
Lunchtime Responsibilities
  • Establish Relationships: Establish supportive and effective relationships with our lunchtime and catering team.
  • Manage Lunchtime Timetables: Manage lunchtime timetables alongside the SBM.
  • Liaise with Staff: Liaise with class teachers, leaders and SLT to ensure all staff are aware of any individual pupil needs.
  • Ensure Pupil Welfare: Ensure that all pupils' welfare and food needs are met through each lunchtime.
  • Take Rapid Action: Take rapid action to provide support when difficulties become apparent.
  • Follow Procedures: Follow the school's procedures for child protection, safeguarding, health and safety as well as confidentiality.
After School Club Responsibilities
  • Plan and Prepare Snacks: Plan and prepare fun and nutritious snacks for children.
  • Purchase Equipment: Purchase toys and equipment as necessary within agreed budget and keeping appropriate financial records.
  • Handle Complaints: First point of contact for handling and resolving complaints from parents.
  • Produce Reports: Produce written or verbal termly reports.
  • Ensure Safe Collection: Ensure the safe collection and transportation of children between classes and the club.
  • Manage Staff: Manage and lead the after school club staff.
  • Deliver Creative Play: Ensure delivery of creative play opportunities in a safe and caring environment.
  • Administer Club: Assist in the administration of the club, keeping relevant records and ensuring that the agreed club procedures are implemented.
  • Communicate with Parents: Communicate and liaise with parents and school staff.
  • Implement Induction Programme: Implement an induction programme with any new staff.
  • Clear Areas: Ensure that areas are cleared at the end of sessions.
