Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced professional to join our team as an Extended School Coordinator at Manchester City Council.

Main Responsibilities
  • Oversee Lunchtime Staff: Ensure that all lunchtime staff are effectively managed and supported in their roles, with a focus on providing a safe and enjoyable experience for children.
  • Plan and Deliver Activities: Develop and implement a range of imaginative and innovative activities that cater to the needs and interests of children aged 5-11 years old.
  • Safeguard and Promote Welfare: Safeguard and promote the welfare of children and young people, adhering to school policies and the staff code of conduct.
Lunchtime Responsibilities
  • Establish Relationships: Build and maintain effective relationships with the lunchtime and catering team, ensuring a smooth and efficient service.
  • Manage Lunchtime Timetables: Oversee the management of lunchtime timetables, working closely with the SBM to ensure a seamless operation.
  • Liaise with Staff: Communicate with class teachers, leaders, and SLT to ensure all staff are aware of individual pupil needs.
  • Ensure Pupil Welfare: Ensure that all pupils' welfare and food needs are met during lunchtime, with a focus on providing a safe and enjoyable experience.
  • Engage with Pupils: Ensure that all lunchtime staff are effectively engaging with pupils and supporting their development during lunchtime.
  • Take Rapid Action: Take rapid action to provide support when difficulties become apparent, adhering to school procedures for child protection, safeguarding, health, and safety.
  • Develop Understanding: Develop an understanding of the specific needs of the children to be worked with, ensuring a tailored approach to support their development.
  • Meet with Supply Staff: Meet with all supply staff at the start of any lunchtime session, providing clear direction and expectations.
After School Club Responsibilities
  • Plan and Prepare Snacks: Plan and prepare fun and nutritious snacks for children, ensuring a safe and enjoyable experience.
  • Purchase Equipment: Purchase toys and equipment as necessary, within agreed budget and keeping accurate financial records.
  • Handle Complaints: Handle and resolve complaints from parents in a professional and timely manner.
  • Produce Reports: Produce written or verbal termly reports, providing a clear overview of the after school club's activities and achievements.
  • Ensure Safe Collection: Ensure the safe collection and transportation of children between classes and the club.
  • Manage Staff: Manage and lead the after school club staff, ensuring a smooth and efficient operation.
  • Deliver Creative Play: Deliver creative play opportunities in a safe and caring environment, adhering to legal responsibilities and duties under the 1989 Children Act, Care Standards Act 2000, and the Health and Safety Act.
  • Implement Induction Programme: Implement an induction programme with any new staff, ensuring a smooth transition into the role.
  • Clear Areas: Ensure that areas are cleared at the end of sessions, adhering to school policies and procedures.
