Brackenberry Ltd is partnering with a Local Authority in Tower Hamlets to find a dedicated Senior Youth Worker for a 5-month contract, with the possibility of extension.

This role offers a competitive hourly rate of £31.00 and presents an exciting opportunity to contribute to the development and delivery of impactful youth programs within a dynamic borough.

Responsibilities
  • Play a key role in shaping the borough-wide Youth Work Strategy and Delivery Model, ensuring its effective implementation and evaluation across universal safe spaces.
  • Lead and mentor Youth Sports Coaches, overseeing the delivery of engaging and effective sports and physical activities for young people.
  • Manage operational rotas to guarantee sufficient staffing levels in compliance with minimum ratios for each universal safe space. Collaborate with the wider Young Tower Hamlets leadership team to ensure borough-wide staffing adequacy.
  • Develop comprehensive year-round program plans in collaboration with Youth Sports Coaches, Youth Support Workers, and Volunteers. Ensure these plans are diverse, curriculum-aligned, asset-based, co-produced, and responsive to the unique needs of young people across the portfolio.
  • Plan and implement sports and physical sessions that actively include and engage vulnerable young people, such as those in care, young carers, individuals with special educational needs or disabilities, those vulnerable to exploitation, and youth involved in the justice system.
Qualifications & Experience
  • A relevant degree or professional qualification in youth work, youth justice, probation, or social work (SWE registered).
  • Proven experience working within and leading universal provision for young people.
  • Experience in line managing staff and/or volunteers across diverse settings.
  • Demonstrated success delivering services to young people in an inner urban area with complex social needs and disadvantage.
  • A commitment to inclusion, equality, and equity of opportunity, with a focus on improving outcomes for disadvantaged groups.
  • Experience in establishing, developing, and maintaining effective partnerships with internal and external stakeholders to ensure the safeguarding and support of young people.
  • Experience in developing project bids, securing external funding, and managing budgets.
  • Experience in evaluating the quality of effective practice, performance, and continuous improvement.
