Merco Medical Staffing Limited is currently seeking experienced Youth Workers to join our esteemed client in East London, dedicated to supporting young people.

Your Role

As a Youth Development Specialist, you will play a vital role in nurturing and supporting the growth of young individuals. Your responsibilities will encompass leading engaging sports activities such as multi-sports and basketball, facilitating a female-identifying and LGBTQ+ project, and guiding youth club sessions.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and facilitate dynamic sports activities for young people, fostering teamwork and healthy competition.
  • Create a safe and inclusive environment for the female-identifying and LGBTQ+ project, encouraging self-expression and community building.
  • Plan and execute engaging youth club sessions, catering to diverse interests and promoting personal development.
  • Provide guidance and support to young people aged 11 to 19, and up to 21 for those with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND).
  • Collaborate with colleagues to ensure the smooth running of youth activities and center operations.
Qualifications

Essential Requirements:

  • A deep understanding of the challenges and opportunities facing young people today.
  • Proven experience in engaging with youth from diverse backgrounds.
  • Experience working in a youth club setting, either paid or voluntary.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build rapport with young individuals.
  • Patience, tolerance, and flexibility in managing group dynamics.
  • A commitment to treating all young people with respect and sensitivity.

Desirable Requirements:

  • Level 2 Safeguarding certification or equivalent knowledge of safeguarding practices.
  • NVQ Level 2 in Youth Work or related qualification.
  • A comprehensive understanding of safeguarding and best practices within a youth work setting.
