Role Overview

We are seeking an Inclusive Learning Specialist to join our MTC Training Team. This role is dedicated to providing comprehensive support for all learners, particularly those facing barriers to learning. This includes individuals with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND) and/or inclusion needs, ensuring they receive the academic and pastoral support necessary to reach their full potential.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide direct support to a caseload of learners with barriers or SEND.
  • Conduct pre-entry assessments and regular reviews of learners to ensure they receive appropriate support throughout their studies and training programs.
  • Develop individualized support plans for learners with barriers or SEND, collaborating with relevant staff to ensure full access to the curriculum and training center environment.
  • Collaborate with staff in planning appropriate support for learners, including special examination arrangements.
  • Facilitate awareness-raising sessions and training for staff working with learners with SEND.
  • Liaise with Health & Safety to arrange and complete specialist assessments for identified learners, including risk assessments and Personal Emergency Evacuation Plans.
  • Participate in Local Authority Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP) consultations in partnership with applicants, schools, and external agencies.
  • Lead interim and annual reviews of Education, Health and Care Plans in conjunction with local authorities and other members of the learning support team.
  • Liaise with appropriate outside agencies and make referrals as needed (e.g., CAMHS, Children and Young Peoples Services).

Essential Skills and Qualifications

  • Current competence within a relevant subject for special educational needs and disabilities (SEND).
  • Proficiency in IT, including Learning Management Systems (LMS) and Microsoft Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Outlook).
  • Strong understanding of learners with SEND and/or inclusion needs.
  • Experience working with and supporting young people with Functional Skills and SEND.
  • Experience in a learning support capacity.
  • Excellent knowledge of safeguarding procedures.
  • Understanding of the EHCP consultation and review process, with experience facilitating and leading EHCP reviews.
  • Ability to interpret SEND documents and EHCPs to inform support plans and teaching/learning strategies.
