About this role

UNISON is the UK's leading public sector trade union, with over 1.3 million members working in the public services. Our members provide essential services and utilities that we all depend on, and as their chosen trade union, UNISON tirelessly campaigns for improved terms and conditions and better pay for all public service workers.

We are looking for a new organiser to work in a range of campaigns in Essex, building member participation and identifying new activists. The successful candidate will bring their experience and skills in one-to-one communications, recruitment, organising, and campaigning, and will need to demonstrate knowledge of trade unionism and our union's values.

The role will involve working in projects recruiting new members, motivating them to take an active role in our campaigns, and identifying new activists. You will build member participation with an escalating plan to achieve a specific win, while building organising into our members' everyday activity and working. This will be planned, resourced, and targeted campaigning with empowered, trained, and active members you've inspired and motivated, front and centre.

The successful candidate will need to be flexible with their working hours and be prepared to travel. You will be based at our regional office in Chelmsford and may also be required to travel to our Head Office in London for training.
