As an Assistant Media Officer, you will be part of a dynamic team working across the press office and social media functions to assist in delivering proactive announcements and handling emerging stories and queries from the media.

You will have the opportunity to identify and shape high-profile news stories to inform the public about the National Cyber Security Centre's priorities and advice. With assistance from senior colleagues, you will craft plans for communicating the NCSC's priorities, products, and advice, and work closely with counterparts across the organization and Whitehall to maximize their effectiveness and manage risks.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Drafting communications products, including press releases, social media posts, and reactive statements
  • Assisting in the delivery of proactive announcements and handling emerging stories and queries from the media
  • Working closely with counterparts across the organization and Whitehall to maximize the effectiveness of communications

Requirements:

  • A keen interest in the news agenda and the ability to spot stories and emerging issues of interest to the organization
  • Prior experience in journalism, public relations, or government communications would be advantageous
