Lead Category Strategist (Dairy Products)

The Advocate Group is conducting a search for a Lead Category Strategist to join an International Consumer Goods organization on a contractual engagement.

Your primary responsibility will be to cultivate robust partnerships with senior procurement teams to ensure mutual advantages are realized.

Your objective is to enhance the category strategy within a significant grocery partner to facilitate the organization's superior performance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Overseeing the outcomes of product range evaluations, space allocation, and distribution within the category.
  • Establishing enduring relationships with senior stakeholders at a key retail partner.
  • Implementing effective category growth strategies (e.g., space optimization, distribution enhancement, promotional planning, product assortment, category growth initiatives, merchandising, etc.) that align with both the organization and retail partner's goals.
  • Creating tailored roadmaps and initiatives for customers, aligned with the category strategy and the retailer's objectives.
  • Defining and executing category initiatives that yield measurable benefits for both parties.
  • Preparing and delivering category insights and recommendations consistently to both internal teams and external partners.
  • Acting as a leader and representative for the category team within the organization.

Candidate Profile

  • Available to commence work promptly on a contractual basis.
  • Demonstrated experience in Category Strategy within the Consumer Goods sector.
  • Strong analytical skills and critical thinking capabilities to navigate extensive and intricate topics and data.
  • Experience in crafting retailer-specific narratives to engage partners in strategic visions and plans.
  • Able to consider broader business requirements when making decisions beyond immediate responsibilities.
  • A collaborative team member who takes ownership of their deliverables and can constructively challenge peers.
