Job Summary:

The Clinical Nurse Specialist/Specialist Midwife will be an experienced practitioner within their specialty, providing clinical support independently or assisting with intervention procedures. The role requires personal professional autonomy and making clinical judgments to ensure successful patient outcomes.

Main Responsibilities:
  • Coordinate specialty care within the Trust, including outreach clinics.
  • Act as an essential member and point of contact for the multi-disciplinary team, patients, and carers.
  • Perform diagnostic/therapeutic interventions independently and initiate further treatment based on findings.
  • Develop new skills to provide expert nurse-led services.
  • Provide ongoing follow-up care and support through various clinics.
  • Develop interdisciplinary clinical management protocols.
  • Lead and manage staff, providing advanced specialist knowledge and education.

Job Requirements:
  • Provide high-quality nursing/midwifery practice to patients, ensuring provision of training and clinical care.
  • Offer advice on interventional procedures and clinical practice, and lead nursing/midwifery within the specialty.
Person Specification:
  • Postgraduate-level learning (MSc).
  • Registered Nurse/RM - Part 1.
  • Relevant specialist course.
  • Mentorship course.
  • Advanced training in procedures relevant to specialty.
Desirable Qualifications and Experience:
  • Knowledge of quality standards.
  • Counselling course.
  • Non-Medical Prescribing.
Essential Experience:
  • Senior clinical experience.
  • Practice Guideline Development.
  • Leadership qualities.
  • Prioritization and organization skills.
  • Ability to work autonomously and in a team.
  • Effective use of healthcare resources.
Desirable Experience:
  • Leading an audit/research study.
  • Presentation and publishing experience.
  • Caseload management.
