Job Description

Job Title: Clinical Nurse Specialist

Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Clinical Nurse Specialist to join our Paediatric Respiratory Long-Term Ventilation (LTV) team at Evelina London Children's Hospital. As a Deputy Clinical Nurse Specialist, you will play a key role in supporting the initiation, education, discharge, and support of technology-dependent children with highly complex medical needs.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide high-quality clinical care and a good patient experience, having regard for patients' customs, religious beliefs, and doctrines.
  • Independently manage a group of patients within the specialty while working as part of the multidisciplinary team, delivering individualized and personalized direct patient care.
  • Ensure staff take precautions to minimize the risk of cross-infection in relation to the safe disposal of body fluids (including blood).
  • Promote high-quality clinical care and assist in the development of the specialist service through the use of evidence-based practice and clinical standards.
  • Facilitate a high-quality, cost-effective specialist service through monitoring and audit and other quality initiatives agreed by the Trust.
  • Contribute to and assist the Clinical Nurse Specialist team to foster a learning environment within the clinical area.
  • Promote and undertake nursing research, updating own knowledge to promote excellence in clinical practice.
  • Provide a leadership role model and demonstrate specialist knowledge and high standards of clinical practice, providing support or advice when necessary.
  • In coordinating the day-to-day management of clinical care, delegate duties and care appropriately while maintaining overall responsibility.
  • To be involved in the development, assessment, and implementation of guidelines, protocols, and pathways.

Requirements:

  • Excellent communication skills and ability to work alongside professionals from different professional backgrounds.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with other paediatric clinical and operational teams to ensure effective communication between the multi-disciplinary team at the Evelina and provide co-ordinated care in collaboration with other specialist services.
  • Competent to deliver health promotion and education to parents, their families, and others.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and prioritize tasks effectively.
  • Strong leadership and problem-solving skills.
