Job Overview
The East of England Ambulance Service is seeking a skilled Vehicle Technician to join our team at our Southend-based workshop. As a key member of our Workshop Services team, you will be responsible for ensuring the safe, effective, and efficient maintenance and repair of our fleet of vehicles.
Main Responsibilities
- Diagnose and repair faults in vehicles, making informed decisions on the extent of the work required.
- Perform routine maintenance and servicing tasks, including MOT inspections and repairs.
- Work with our team to ensure that all vehicles are maintained to the highest standards, meeting the requirements of the East of England Ambulance Service.
- Participate in a rota for 24-hour service and repair callouts, working outside in varying weather conditions.
- Collaborate with other Mechanics to achieve team goals and objectives.
Requirements
- C1 License category.
- Extensive post-apprenticeship experience in vehicle mechanical engineering.
- NVQ 2 in Vehicle Maintenance Repair (Light Vehicle) or equivalent qualification.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, achieving results in potentially adverse conditions.
Working for Our Organisation
The Fleet Department is responsible for the design, testing, and evaluation of operational vehicles, their procurement and issue to A&E Operations, the in-life compliance, service planning, and up-time management (operational life) of the vehicle, and the final decommissioning and disposal at the end of their life.
Person Specification
- Essential criteria:
- C1 License category.
- Extensive post-apprenticeship experience in vehicle mechanical engineering.
- NVQ 2 in Vehicle Maintenance Repair (Light Vehicle) or equivalent qualification.
- Desirable criteria:
- Experience of working within a busy NHS maintenance environment.
- Affiliation to IRTE or IMI.
