Position Title: Technical Support Officer

Salary: S01 £32, £33,945.00

A position has opened within the Highways and Transportation Technical Support team for a Technical Support Officer, tasked with providing assistance to the various highways depots across the City.

This role presents a unique opportunity to engage in essential frontline services within Highways Depots, which are responsible for critical operations such as gritting, flood management, emergency pothole repairs, and scheduled maintenance activities on the highway.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the daily operations of staff delivering administrative support to the depots.
  • Manage the procurement of materials through contracted suppliers and handle payroll documentation for Highways Operatives.
  • Deliver a Technical Support Service to Depot Managers regarding Traffic Management Act responsibilities.
  • Supervise the processing of payroll documentation, including tracking staff absences and compiling timesheets.
  • Ensure effective systems are in place for ordering materials and managing the annual budget across the three depots.
  • Monitor performance and support the management of highway works data to ensure compliance with Traffic Management Act requirements.
  • Act as a deputy for the Technical Support Manager when necessary.

Working Conditions:

The role is primarily based at designated depots, with a requirement for a presence in the office during operational hours. Flexible working arrangements may be available, but adherence to the operational schedule is essential.
