As a leading provider in the UK & Ireland, Alstom plays a crucial role in delivering new trains and train services, alongside advanced signalling and rail infrastructure. We are responsible for a significant portion of the UK mainline train fleet and the entire fleets operating in major urban transit systems.


We are currently in search of a dedicated HR Advisor to enhance our dynamic HR team. The successful candidate will possess relevant experience as an HR Generalist and a solid grasp of HR methodologies and practices. This role presents an excellent opportunity for individuals eager to advance their careers in human resources within a prestigious global organization.

Your Role

Reporting to the HR Business Partner, you will work collaboratively with a diverse group of professionals across HR and other corporate functions. Your responsibilities will include providing support and guidance to managers and employees on various HR matters.

As a primary contact for the business unit you support, you will utilize your HR knowledge while being open to skill enhancement and professional growth.

Daily, you will engage with multiple teams throughout the organization, addressing a variety of HR-related challenges. This position will provide you with valuable insights into the business and facilitate your career advancement.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Advising on local employment terms and legislation.
  • Building partnerships with business managers to achieve HR KPIs.
  • Fostering positive employee relations.
  • Assisting in the development and implementation of standard HR documentation and processes.
  • Supporting absence management initiatives.
  • Managing absence data and KPIs.
  • Facilitating local recruitment efforts.
  • Conducting general HR activities while striving for continuous improvement.
  • Overseeing agency temporary staff and their agencies.
  • Assisting the Services HR team with internal systems and reporting.
  • Coordinating People Management processes.
  • Addressing payroll inquiries and ensuring accuracy.
  • Supporting international mobility administration.
  • Contributing to ad-hoc HR projects.

Candidate Profile

We prioritize passion and attitude over extensive experience. While we do not expect you to possess every skill, the following attributes will contribute to your success in this role:

Desired Qualifications:

  • Experience in a Human Resources generalist role, particularly in operational HR and policy development.
  • Ability to work independently, as autonomy is essential.
  • Familiarity with HR information systems.
  • Strong understanding of HR employment laws and best practices.
  • Capability to handle sensitive information with professionalism.
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to analyze data for informed decision-making.
  • Strong planning and organizational skills.
  • Flexibility and adaptability.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.

Educational Background:

  • A degree or equivalent experience, or progress towards a professional HR qualification (e.g., CIPD).
