Position Overview

***12 Month Fixed Term Contract/Secondment Opportunity***

An exciting opportunity has emerged for a Band 6 Clinical Nurse Specialist in Uro-Oncology. We are looking for a passionate and skilled nurse who possesses outstanding communication abilities and has experience in either Urology or Oncology nursing. The successful candidate will become part of a well-established and dedicated team focused on providing care for individuals with or suspected of having cancers related to the bladder, kidney, penis, prostate, or testes.

The role may require flexibility to work across various locations within the healthcare network.

Key Responsibilities

The Uro-Oncology team collaborates with multiple healthcare facilities. The ideal candidate will work closely with a multidisciplinary team, thriving in a fast-paced environment while catering to a diverse patient population with urological cancers and varying nursing needs.

The post holder will be expected to operate independently and adhere to the standards established by Nursing/Midwifery Professional Bodies and Trust Nursing Policies and Guidelines. Responsibilities include providing nurse-led services in urology cancer clinics, assisting in various clinical settings, and managing patient follow-ups.

Previous experience in urology is beneficial; however, candidates with the right attitude and potential will also be considered. The successful applicant will undergo a structured induction and will be encouraged to pursue relevant training opportunities.

Job Responsibilities

1. Manage a personal caseload of patients autonomously while collaborating with the multidisciplinary team.

2. Assess, plan, and evaluate care for patients with urological cancer, addressing their physical, psychological, and social needs.

3. Conduct nurse-led assessments for patients suspected of having urological cancers, including physical examinations and symptom evaluations.

4. Participate in ongoing training and development, including the ability to request necessary radiological investigations.

5. Discuss treatment options with patients, providing clear and sensitive information to facilitate informed decision-making.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Registered Nurse on the appropriate part of the NMC register
  • Degree in Nursing or a related health discipline
