Work Schedule Adjustment: As part of our commitment to employee well-being, NHS Scotland is transitioning to a reduced full-time working week of 37 hours, effective from April 2024, while maintaining current salary levels. This adjustment will also apply proportionately to part-time staff. Please note that certain service areas may not immediately implement this change, and you may be required to work an additional 30 minutes weekly temporarily, for which you will be compensated until the service adapts its scheduling.

Shift Pattern: The standard shift pattern consists of five working days.

Role Overview: This position plays a crucial role in ensuring the delivery of high-quality patient care and retail services within the Gartnavel Campus.

Facilities Directorate: Our Facilities Directorate is responsible for a variety of essential services, including patient and retail catering, domestic cleaning, portering, and transport, all of which contribute significantly to the overall quality of patient care.

Key Qualifications:

  • Possession of an HNC or equivalent experience, along with a minimum of three years in a supervisory capacity.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of Facilities Services, particularly in Catering.
  • Understanding of Health & Safety protocols (training will be provided).
  • Familiarity with C.O.S.H.H. regulations (training will be provided).
  • Awareness of Lifting and Handling procedures (training will be provided).
  • Knowledge of Infection Control practices (training will be provided).
  • Understanding of Food Safety Regulations.
  • Awareness of relevant Quality Standards.
  • Commitment to Continuous Improvement.
  • Familiarity with HR policies and procedures.

Training Opportunities:

  • Training on the operation of all relevant machinery (training will be provided).
  • Intermediate Food Hygiene Certificate (training will be provided).
  • Supervisory Skills Training.
  • Capability to perform all tasks and responsibilities across the Facilities department.

Experience Requirements:

  • Direct experience in the provision of Facilities services, with a focus on Catering.
  • Working knowledge of Health and Safety and Infection Control standards.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Flexibility and adaptability in a dynamic work environment.
  • Basic IT skills are necessary.
