We are seeking a skilled and experienced Caretaker to join our team at a vibrant Secondary School in South West London. As a key member of our facilities team, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the smooth operation of our school premises.
Key Responsibilities- Maintain the security of the school premises, including locking/unlocking buildings, responding to alarms, and ensuring all entry points are secure.
- Conduct routine checks and minor repairs for various facilities and equipment, such as heating systems, plumbing, lighting, and fixtures.
- Ensure cleanliness and hygiene standards are met in classrooms, corridors, restrooms, and communal areas.
- Implement health and safety protocols, including fire drills and emergency procedures, and report any hazards or incidents promptly.
- Perform basic grounds maintenance, including litter picking, gardening, and snow clearing as needed.
- Supervise and coordinate external contractors for larger maintenance projects when necessary.
- Manage inventory of cleaning supplies and maintenance equipment, and order replacements as needed.
- Collaborate with school staff and management to address maintenance and safety concerns promptly.
- Previous Caretaker experience, ideally within educational settings.
- Strong work ethic, reliability, and punctuality.
- Maintenance skills, including basic knowledge of plumbing, electrical, and general upkeep.
- Attention to detail and ability to maintain a safe and clean environment.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to interact with staff, students, and external contractors.
- Positive attitude and proactive approach to addressing issues and solving problems.
