- Mental Health Support: Support children and young people's emotional, mental, and physical health needs to build self-esteem and resilience.
- Personal Care: Provide appropriate levels of personal care for children and young people with disabilities and complex needs, including bathing, toileting, dressing, changing, and feeding as appropriate.
- Record Keeping: Ensure that all records are accurate, up-to-date, and GDPR compliant, maintaining confidentiality and data protection.
- Challenging Behaviour: Manage complex and challenging behaviour in an assertive, restorative, and sensitive manner, promoting positive relationships and outcomes.
- Community Engagement: Work to reduce the likelihood that a child/young person becomes criminalized, encouraging restorative approaches and outcomes.
- Flexibility and Adaptability: Be flexible and adaptable to change, assisting other services as required, and commensurate to grade.
- Professional Development: Participate in appraisal, training, and development activities to ensure up-to-date knowledge and skills, improving own practice through observation, evaluation, discussion, and development programs.
- Teamwork: Work collaboratively with colleagues, knowing when to seek help and advice, contributing to the overall ethos, work, and aims of the service.
- Experience: Must have recent experience of working as a Residential Practitioner for the local authority or children's care home.
- IT Skills: Strong IT skills, using Microsoft Office, including internal council IT systems to record important information.
- People Skills: Excellent people skills, speaking to service users, families, carers, and other members of staff and managers.
- Qualifications: Must have a Level 3 Diploma in Residential Child Care or Equivalent.
- Driving License: Full UK driving license and access to a vehicle.
- DBS: Valid Enhanced DBS on the update service.
