About the Role

Buckinghamshire Mind is seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Mental Health Practitioner to join our team as a First Contact Mental Health Professional. This is an exciting opportunity to work in a dynamic and supportive environment, providing high-quality mental health services to individuals in need.

Key Responsibilities
  • Working with Patients
    • Provide person-centered support to individuals presenting with mental health needs in primary care settings.
    • Conduct triage assessments to determine the most appropriate course of action for each individual.
    • Develop and maintain strong relationships with GPs, practice managers, and other healthcare professionals to ensure seamless referrals and care coordination.
    • Work autonomously to manage a caseload of patients, providing guidance and support to help them access the most suitable mental health services.
  • Administration and Projects
    • Accurately record patient information and update notes using our electronic database.
    • Deliver high-quality services that meet our contractual Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).
    • Liaise with other stakeholders via email and letter to ensure effective communication and collaboration.
    • Complete mandatory training and professional development to enhance skills and knowledge.
  • Other
    • Represent Buckinghamshire Mind in a professional and respectful manner at all times.

    • Maintain confidentiality and adhere to our policies and procedures, including confidentiality, safeguarding, and health and safety.
Requirements
  • Essential
    • Experience working in a VCS or relevant Adult Health and Social Care roles.
    • Ability to listen and empathize with individuals, providing person-centered support in a non-judgmental manner.
    • Assessment and referral skills, with the ability to work autonomously and manage a caseload.
    • Knowledge of local services and ability to work with a range of stakeholders.
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to network and build sustainable partnerships.
  • Desirable
    • Additional coaching or therapeutic qualifications, such as Integrative, Systemic, Person-Centered, Psychodynamic, Cognitive Behavioral, or Coaching qualifications.
    • Training in motivational interviewing.
    • Relevant qualification for the role, equivalent to QCF Level 3 in Health and Social Care.
