The Dorset Clinical Commissioning Group is seeking a dedicated professional to lead the Clinical Engineering and Medical Equipment Library services. This role is crucial in implementing strategies and policies that ensure the delivery of safe, high-quality services aligned with the organization's strategic objectives.

Key Responsibilities

- Act as the primary authority for the Care Quality Commission (CQC) standards regarding the maintenance of medical devices and equipment.

- Develop and refine policies and procedures to guarantee that all reusable medical devices and equipment are properly maintained, calibrated, repaired, and monitored in accordance with CQC guidelines.

- Regularly assess and update the organization's Medical Devices Management Policy to comply with recommendations from the Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency (MHRA) and CQC requirements.

Candidate Profile

Qualifications

Essential Qualifications

  • A degree in Electrical & Electronic Engineering or a comparable qualification with extensive experience in specialized areas of Electronic Engineering and/or Communications.
  • Registration with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) as a clinical scientist (clinical engineering).
  • Advanced training and experience at the Master's level or an equivalent qualification.

Desirable Qualifications

  • Membership in a relevant professional institution.

Experience

Essential Experience

  • Post-qualification experience with Electrical & Electronic Engineering equipment and systems.
  • Specialized experience in healthcare-related systems across various medical device disciplines.
  • Experience in operational management.
  • Proven experience in contract negotiations.

Desirable Experience

  • Research experience at the postgraduate level.
  • Experience in training junior staff within NHS training schemes.

Knowledge

Essential Knowledge

  • In-depth expertise in medical device systems acquired through specialized training and experience.
  • Strong understanding of medical terminology related to medical devices, alongside knowledge of patient and staff risks associated with these devices.
  • Evidence of ongoing professional development.
  • Comprehensive understanding of British and European safety standards and compliance requirements for medical equipment.
  • Familiarity with current legislation, approved codes of practice, and guidance, including the Health and Safety at Work Act and other relevant standards.
