Job Overview

The Dorset Clinical Commissioning Group is seeking a dedicated individual to fill the role of Radiology Appointments Officer. This position is essential for ensuring the smooth operation of administrative tasks within the Diagnostic Radiology and Protection (DRP) team.

Main Responsibilities

  • Perform administrative functions within the DRP unit, including:
  • Inputting data related to departmental activities into various databases and spreadsheets, ensuring all matters are addressed by the scientific personnel.
  • Scheduling client visits for radiation assessments and related activities.
  • Coordinating room bookings and organizing meetings with various quality control and client groups.
  • Developing and maintaining spreadsheets and databases as required by scientific staff.
  • Monitoring quality control spreadsheets utilized by clients on a daily basis, ensuring all concerns are addressed by scientific personnel.
  • Supporting the Radiation Protection Advisor (RPA) with necessary administrative tasks.
  • Adhering to departmental protocols and procedures to comply with current best practices and legislation.
  • Creating and maintaining records for equipment quality control testing and patient dosimetry evaluations.
  • Preparing documentation and equipment for external departmental work.
  • Organizing training sessions for external clients, such as private dental practices.
  • Promoting the services of the group to local x-ray users.
  • Assisting in the provision of radiation protection and quality assurance services, which includes evaluating x-ray equipment that requires precise measurements.
  • Ensuring compliance with relevant legislation, professional guidelines, and current best practices in radiation protection.
  • Arranging and conducting routine area and environmental monitoring in medical x-ray facilities, reporting findings to the appropriate RPA.
  • Assisting in the assessment of radiation protection and imaging performance for new radiological imaging equipment during the commissioning phase.
  • Contributing to the evaluation of the long-term performance of radiological imaging equipment.
  • Supporting the Medical Physics quality assurance program for the Dorset Breast Screening Service.
  • Liaising with other professional staff, both within and outside the Trusts, regarding relevant aspects of the Medical Physics service.

Qualifications

Essential Criteria

  • English and Mathematics qualifications equivalent to GCSE Grade C or above.
  • A-level qualifications with a minimum of 96 points (CCC), including at least one relevant STEM subject (e.g., physics, engineering, or mathematics) at 32 points/Grade C or higher, or BTEC equivalent.
