About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Risk and Compliance Officer to join our team at Close Brothers Group. As a key member of our Finance Team, you will play a critical role in ensuring the effective management of operational, compliance, and credit risks across our business.

Key Responsibilities
  • Operational Risk Management
    • Assist the Operations & Risk Director/Manager in establishing and maintaining appropriate standards, policies, and procedures to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
    • Monitor and test the effectiveness of measures to promote awareness and training of relevant employees.
    • Ensure that all policies, procedures, and documents are maintained and reviewed in line with the required review period.
    • Monitor adherence to local policies and procedures on an ongoing basis, reviewing quality of data and regularly tracking any changes to the Close Brothers Group Standards.
  • Compliance and Risk Management
    • Undertake the role of Deputy Money Laundering Reporting Officer ('DMLRO') for the Jersey office, working closely with the CBL Financial Crime team based in the UK.
    • Ensure that all CFCI staff adhere to all Anti-Money Laundering (AML), Customer Due Diligence (CDD), Data Protection (GDPR) legislation and regulation across both Jersey and Guernsey.
    • Support the Operations & Risk Manager in identifying, mitigating, and managing all existing and emerging operational, compliance, and credit risks.
    • Assist the CFCI Leadership with internal and external audits, ensuring CFCI achieves the standards required.
  • Technical Expertise
    • Provide technical support and guidance to the client-facing teams on regulatory and operational risk matters.
    • Assume the role of Deputy Money Laundering Reporting Officer ('DMLRO') for the Jersey office.
Requirements
  • 3-4 years similar experience, preferably within a financial services environment, with strong technical knowledge of the sector.
  • A good understanding and experience of the regulatory requirements in the Channel Islands as well as operational controls process.
  • Possess strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to develop close working relationships with colleagues both in the Channel Islands and in the UK.
  • Confident in dealing with senior management/Board members.
  • Self-motivated and capable of prioritizing and organizing workloads as required.
