About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Consultant in Infectious Diseases and General Internal Medicine to join our team at University Hospitals Sussex NHS Foundation Trust (279). As a key member of our department, you will play a vital role in delivering high-quality patient care and contributing to the development of our infectious diseases services.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide expert clinical care to patients with infectious diseases, including diagnosis, treatment, and management of complex cases.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of clinical guidelines and protocols for infectious diseases.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure seamless care coordination and communication.
  • Participate in clinical research and audit activities to improve patient outcomes and advance the field of infectious diseases.
  • Supervise and mentor junior doctors and medical students to ensure their development and growth.
Requirements
  • Basic medical degree and postgraduate medical diploma (MRCP or equivalent).
  • Full GMC Registration with a license to practice.
  • CCT in Infectious Diseases or eligibility for acquiring the same within 6 months of the date of the AAC, or equivalent qualification from outside the EU.
  • CCT in General Internal Medicine or eligibility for acquiring the same within 6 months of the date of the AAC, or equivalent qualification from outside the EU.
  • Entry onto the GMC Specialist Register or eligibility for entry within 6 months of the date of the AAC.
Desirable Qualifications and Experience
  • Higher Degree.
  • Qualification in Medical Education (Certificate, Diploma, Masters).
  • Current ALS certification.
  • Relevant clinical experience, including at least 6 years post-graduate experience in Infectious Diseases.
  • Postgraduate experience of working in Intensive Care or High Dependency Medicine.
