About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Clinical or Counselling Psychologist to join our Integrated Community Care and Recovery (ICCR) Service, working with adults with mental health difficulties in the community.

This is an ideal opportunity to apply your full range of psychological skills and knowledge, including consultation, training, supervision, service development, leadership, and research, in addition to direct clinical work.

As a Clinical or Counselling Psychologist, you will work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team to provide a range of clinical services, including complex case assessment, formulation, and the application of evidence-based psychological interventions.

Main Responsibilities
  • Provide specialist psychological assessment and individual and group-based treatment of clients with complex difficulties across adult secondary or tertiary care settings.
  • Develop and implement evidence-based psychological interventions, including individual and group-based treatments.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of service innovation, supporting a diverse range of clinical and academic interests.
  • Work closely with other professionals in a multidisciplinary team setting to provide comprehensive care to service users.

Person Specification
  • Essential:
    • Doctoral level training in clinical or counselling psychology.
    • Significant post-qualification experience of specialist psychological assessment and individual and group-based treatment of clients with complex difficulties across adult secondary or tertiary care settings.
    • Experience working in Adult Secondary or Tertiary Mental Health services.
  • Desirable:
    • Additional qualifications in an accredited therapy.
    • Experience of working with service users with personality difficulties/complex trauma/psychosis.
    • Post-qualification experience and/or training in supervision.
Knowledge and Skills
  • Essential:
    • Skills in formulation of problems from a psychological perspective and implementation of interventions appropriate for use with complex presenting problems.
  • Desirable:
    • High-level knowledge of theory and practice of at least two specialised psychological therapies.
Personal Qualities
  • Essential:
    • Ability to interact with and build and sustain relationships with people with mental health difficulties.
  • Desirable:
    • Experience of working closely with others in an MDT setting.
