Mental Health Support Teams (MHSTs)

Barnardo's is seeking a dedicated and compassionate individual to join our Mental Health Support Teams (MHSTs) as a Trainee Education Mental Health Practitioner (EMHP). As a key member of our team, you will work therapeutically with children and young people in education settings to support their emotional health and wellbeing.

About the Role

You will be employed as a Project Worker 1 (NHS Band 4) post, gaining credits towards a post-graduate diploma level qualification throughout your year of study. On successful completion of the training, you will progress to a Project Worker 2 (NHS Band 5) EMHP post.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide therapeutic support to children, young people, and their parent-carers
  • Work in partnership with education settings to deliver evidence-based interventions
  • Support the senior mental health lead in each education setting to introduce or develop their whole school/college approach
  • Liaise with external specialist services to help children and young people get the right support and stay in education
