Position Overview

The University of Hull is seeking a dedicated Wellbeing Support Specialist to join our esteemed wellbeing service. This role is integral to our mental health and wellbeing team, focusing on delivering exceptional psychological support and case management for students facing emotional challenges or distress.

Key Responsibilities

The successful candidate will:

  • Deliver tailored one-on-one support aimed at empowering students to navigate various wellbeing challenges, particularly those who have encountered sexual violence.
  • Engage with students primarily following assessments conducted by Mental Health Practitioners, under their guidance and the direction of senior management.
  • Adopt an inclusive and empathetic approach that aligns with the core values of our service and institution.
  • Design, implement, and assess evidence-based interventions to address student needs effectively.
  • Identify potential risks and escalate concerns as necessary.
  • Maintain comprehensive, accurate, and defensible records of all interactions.
  • Provide appropriate referrals and guidance, both internally and externally, to ensure a holistic approach to student support.
  • Participate actively in team meetings, service development initiatives, and professional growth opportunities.
  • Collaborate with academic and administrative staff to foster an integrated support system for students.
  • Ensure compliance with university policies, regulations, and standards of practice.
  • Contribute to the enhancement of service delivery and the overall student experience.
  • Support university events, including orientation and graduation activities.

About the Wellbeing Service

Our student wellbeing service is vital to enhancing the student experience, providing expertise in mental health, safeguarding, and inclusion. The Mental Health and Wellbeing Team plays a crucial role in assisting students with a variety of mental health and emotional challenges, offering assessments, short-term interventions, and facilitating access to external resources. The team is committed to an integrated approach, working closely with academic and professional colleagues to ensure students achieve their full potential.
