Location: County Hall, Morpeth, Northumberland

Salary: Local Authority Band 13 (£67,437 to £71,008)

Status: Fixed Term - 4 years

Hours: 37 hours

We are seeking an experienced and ambitious Public Health Principal to join our knowledgeable and forward-thinking public health team. This is a developmental position, and the post holder should be actively pursuing public health specialist registration through the portfolio route.

The successful candidate will be an experienced public health professional with excellent leadership and technical skills who can develop and maintain positive relationships with stakeholders across the public and VCSE sectors. They will be able to provide expert public health support and whole system leadership to ensure an evidence-based approach for commissioning and developing high quality and equitable services.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead on children and young people's public health, all age public mental health, and suicide prevention
  • Work closely with our two Consultants in Public Health and report to our Executive Director of Public Health, Stronger Communities and Inequalities
  • Develop and maintain positive relationships with stakeholders across the public and VCSE sectors
  • Provide expert public health support and whole system leadership to ensure an evidence-based approach for commissioning and developing high quality and equitable services

Requirements:

  • Experience in public health, with a focus on children and young people's health
  • Excellent leadership and technical skills
  • Ability to develop and maintain positive relationships with stakeholders
  • Expertise in public health support and whole system leadership
