About the Role

We are seeking a highly motivated and enthusiastic Pharmacy Technician to join our Medicines Management and Optimisation Team at NHS Birmingham and Solihull Integrated Care Board.

The successful candidate will play a key role in supporting the implementation of our Medicines Optimisation strategy, working closely with General Practitioners and other primary care clinicians to promote high-quality, evidence-based, and cost-effective prescribing practices.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support the audit of repeat medication systems to ensure accurate and safe prescribing practices.
  • Collaborate with the Medicines Management and Optimisation Team to develop and implement locally delivered action plans to reduce medicines waste and improve patient outcomes.
  • Utilise data analysis and informatics systems to inform decision-making and drive quality improvement initiatives.
  • Work closely with the Prescribing Support Pharmacist to develop and implement prescribing guidelines and protocols.
  • Provide expert advice and guidance to General Practitioners and other primary care clinicians on medicines optimisation issues.
Requirements
  • Registered with the General Pharmaceutical Council as a Pharmacy Technician.
  • Hold a recognised General Pharmaceutical Council-accredited qualification or a GPhC-approved apprenticeship for Pharmacy Technician.
  • Relevant post-registration experience as a Pharmacy Technician.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret data and inform decision-making.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with a flexible approach to working hours and locations.
