Position Overview

Iridium Medical Practice is seeking a dedicated Clinical Nurse Specialist to enhance our supportive team of healthcare professionals. The ideal candidate will possess a polished appearance and proficient IT capabilities. Prior experience in a general practice setting is essential, and familiarity with the Emis Web clinical system is preferred. Compensation will be commensurate with experience.

Key Responsibilities

The Clinical Nurse Specialist will be responsible for:

  • Delivering exceptional integrated nursing care to our patient population.
  • Encouraging health and wellness initiatives within the community.
  • Collaborating with both clinical and administrative staff, as well as other healthcare professionals, to achieve:
    • Quality and Outcomes Framework (QoF) targets.
    • Objectives outlined in the NHS Action Plan.
    • Compliance with standards set by the Care Quality Commission (CQC).

Job Duties

The Clinical Nurse Specialist will:

  • Provide comprehensive travel health advice, including vaccinations and preventive measures.
  • Administer childhood and adult vaccinations in accordance with patient group directives.
  • Conduct well-person clinics and health promotion initiatives, offering holistic assessments and lifestyle guidance.
  • Evaluate health concerns presented by patients during consultations.
  • Document patient interactions in compliance with NMC guidelines.
  • Support staff in managing chronic conditions and achieving QoF and IIF targets.
  • Maintain awareness of safeguarding protocols.
  • Perform cervical cytology tests and venepuncture as per local guidelines.
  • Implement wound care management based on current evidence-based practices.
  • Conduct ECGs and respond to anaphylaxis in accordance with UK guidelines.
  • Ensure adherence to infection control standards.
  • Manage stock and equipment maintenance, including emergency supplies.
  • Uphold confidentiality of patient information at all times.
  • Participate in team meetings and foster effective communication with external agencies.
  • Identify personal development needs and engage in ongoing education.
  • Contribute to a supportive work environment and adhere to health and safety policies.

Qualifications

Essential:

  • Registered General Nurse with a commitment to professional growth.
  • Proficiency in essential nursing duties.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
  • Experience in patient interaction and confidentiality adherence.
  • Flexibility to accommodate extended working hours.

Desirable:

  • Knowledge of primary care services and chronic disease management.
  • Experience with IT clinical systems, particularly EMIS Web.
  • Interest in teaching and mentoring.
