Join Essex County Council's initiative to enhance community safety by becoming a Community Safety Officer.
We are seeking a dependable and punctual individual who possesses strong interpersonal skills and enjoys interacting with the public.
This role entails a commitment of 5 hours per week retainer, in addition to hours worked, with a holiday pay component included. Availability during the academic year is essential. Travel expenses and time will be compensated in accordance with the council's travel policy.
Key Responsibilities:
- Consider the needs of individuals with disabilities, particularly those with mobility challenges, at crossing points.
- Continuously evaluate the safety risks associated with crossing sites to identify and report any issues to a supervisor.
- Assist in compiling reports on incidents, including accidents and failure to stop occurrences at crossing locations.
- Ensure that all provided uniforms and equipment are kept in excellent condition and request replacements as necessary.
- Provide clear signals to motorists to halt traffic, ensuring that it remains stopped until the crossing area is clear of pedestrians.
Access to a personal vehicle and appropriate business insurance is required, as travel to various crossing sites is necessary.

Mobility Requirements: The role necessitates mobility across an operational area. Therefore, candidates must possess a valid driving license and have access to a vehicle, or demonstrate the ability to meet the mobility requirements through alternative means.
